We have been having a lot of problems ever since we upgraded to Instant forum 2010. Does anyone know if there is a way to downgrade to a previous version?

Thanks

Hi Haywire

I would say share the problems you're having, as the 2010 version is in my opinion definitely worth implementing, especially the latest build available as this will contain fixes for most of the initial bugs

I think I saw 2010 v3 is on the way as well, with some extra bug fixes no doubt

The main issues with downgrading will be the database side of things, if you didn't have a pre-upgrade backup then it could be fiddly unpicking the database changes.  I would think that apart from the database side, downgrading the forum itself would be like an upgrade (I clear out the old forum folder and drop on the new forum when I upgrade the forum software).  Also watch out for any mods in the web.config which may have changed in the 2010 version.  Again an old backup of this file may help identify what changes may be needed

Good luck!

Craig

I am also very dissatisfied with the Instant Forum 2010 upgrade. Endless bugs causing a lot of problems in all aspects. I really regret I purchased it. Should have gone with a different vendor instead of upgrading from the old version.

I run your latest fixes up to 2010-4. Now among many other problems it errors out on the default forum screen that if_viewForumForums view is not defined. Do you have fix for that?

    Hi BartoszM,

Thank you for your post. I'm sorry to hear of the trouble.
We would of course be very happy to investigate any issues you may be having.
I suspect the issues your experiencing are due to incorrect configuration as opposed to bugs.

We have been investigating any bug report receive since our latst 2010-4 update and so far we only have 4 genuine bugs we've identified which will be resolved for the next update.

The problem your referring to I'm not familiar with. We don't have any SQL Views within our products and the view "if_viewForumForums" is not something we've created. This maybe a view your developers created to communicate with other databases in your SQL Server instance.

Do you have a URL we could use to take a look at your forum? If you need to provide any sensitive data please email support@instantasp.co.uk and we'll do our best to assist ASAP.

Admin for registration and login allows you to set Enable Date of Birth to "no", but this does not seem to work.  Even after setting this to "no" the birthday fields still show on the registration form.  Is there another way to disable this?
