Topic Types within InstantForum 2017

In Forum 2017, if you create a topic type and use it on a new topic, the top view  for the Forum breaks with an JSON parsing error.
It's related to this:
return a.EmotIconCollection != null ? this.jsonproxy.objToArray(a.EmotIconCollection.EmotIcons) : null   <----- this turns out to not being possible
line 16397 of core.js in non-minified form

It completely breaks things :-(

First I though that the fact that the  MessageIcons.xml file referring to .gif files and the files in the image folder for that are .png files was the problem.
But correcting the files' name in xml doesn't solve the issue :-(
Nor having the correct gif files in the folder :-(

Either way, it's always broken.

I find it hard to believe I'm the only one using this feature, as it's one of the best the app has ...

A solution would be ideal, because I really need it.

Thanks in advance
Ricardo

P.S - btw, if it's working here, does that mean you're not using the 2017 version yourselves??

Hi Ricardo,

Great to hear from you. Thank you so much for your post. I'm sincerely sorry to hear of the trouble.

I've been investigating this today but so far have not been able to reproduce. I wonder if the problem may be related to any changes made within the EmotIcons.xml or MessageIcons.xml files.

Could you attach your skins/{skinname}/EmotIcons.xml and skins/{skinname}/MessageIcons.xml file here Ricardo. I'll restore these within a local copy of InstantForum 2017 to step through the code and see if we can reproduce. We will of course provide a solution and / or fix if needed.

I look forward to hearing from you Ricardo and assisting further,

P.S. We've not updated our own community forums here to InstantForum 2017 just yet. We want to revamp a few areas within our forums before the update. This should be ready very soon. You can of course test the topic types via our online demo @ http://demos.instantasp.co.uk/InstantForum2017/

Hi Ricardo,

I hope your well. Thank you so much for your time on the phone yesterday. For the benefit of others this was a genuine bug that existed within InstantForum 2017 if certain characters appeared within a topics topic type description. We have of course gone ahead and resolved this and provided a small service pack to address this issue and a few others for customers using InstantForum 2017. You can download this update here..

http://downloads.instantasp.co.uk/InstantForum2017/InstantForum2017FinalSP2.zip

Of course all of these updates will be included within the next offical InstantForum update which should be within the coming weeks. To apply this update you'll simply need to copy the enclosed Bin, JS, Globalization & Skins folder into your existing InstantForum 2017 installation.

Should you encounter any issues of course please don't hesitate to respond. I look forward to hearing from you and assisting further,
