Hi there,
I have a question. Currently the process for registration is:
1. Fill out registration info
2. Submit
3.
a. Email is sent for verification
b. System automatically logs on the user
4. You're logged on but cannot do the protected things until verified
My question is:
Shouldn't the user's account NOT be allowed to log in UNTIL they verify it?
What I would like to do is after registration, it says "thanks, please check your email .... blah blah". But it won't log you on and you canno log on til you click on the link to verify your account.
Thanks in advance

| This is pretty standard way of doing things on most all forums. What really has happened is the user has a valid account so they can login, but they are a member of a group that can't do much and when they use the email link they get changed to the registered users group.

Thanks for the reply,
I do understand that's how it works, I just would have thought that if you are not yet activated, you wouldn't be allowed to login.
Well, since I'm going to try to remove the login/register functionality w/in the forum and create my own in the parent app (if i can ever get it working properly), maybe i can do checks to see what the roles are before allowing a successful login. I'll have to think about that.
Thanks again,

If you think about it everyone is in a member group even if they aren't logged in. If they are not logged in then they are part of the anonymous member group. Therefore people awaiting activation can login and be a part of the Awaiting Activation group, and if you set your permissions right those people can be restricted from doing whatever you don't want them to do. So if you want the awaiting activation to to do anything just give them the same permissions you have for the Awaiting Activation group.
