We are trying to integrate the forums capability of IF into an existing website.  In one section of the site, we want the typical site-wide heirarchical forum drill-down.  No problem.  However, in other parts of the site, we want to associate a "private" forum with something like a member club -- if you're in the club you can get to a page that shows some club information, and below that the club forum.

I have managed to code up the club creation so that I create member groups for the club member and club admin, create the club forum, and make the current user (the club creator) a club member and admin for role-based access.  Now I want to create the "show club" page which will show various club info (external to IF) and the club forum view.

How can I show just a single forum view on a page without getting there through the site's forum hierarchy?   I want to be able to retrieve the forum ID from our own table (associated with the club object), and include a view of the that forum from within the club view page without throwing away the skinning/master page capability.  Or do I have to write entirely custom code?!?!?

No answer yet? I have a few similar questions.

I would like to know if it would be possible to display a single thread in a non-forums page, and which license would be necessary.

Specifically, I would like to use the forum infrastructure to add a "Comments" section to each article. The single thread would be displayed on the the article page, but would also be available through the forums.

I will also need to be able to allow a user to sign-in through any page in the site, whether or not they are in the forums section (i.e., before commenting on an article)

Thank you,
SokViChet (Aaron)

Well, after receiving no reply and seeing the percentage of posts with questions and issues that have gone unanswered here in the InstantForum support forums, I opted to go with Community Server http://www.telligent.com.  I have posted questions of this complex nature there and received an answer within MINUTES.  The source code is more complex (but I've learned a LOT from it!).  The product is solid, has more lots functionality than InstantASP, and the user/support community is way better.  I'd seriously consider using CS if you have complex stuff you need to do with a forum package.
