I've actually had this problem for a long time, but I'm finally running into a problem, as I can't squeeze any more space from my log files.
Anyways, the problem could be on my hosts end, but I figured I'd ask a knowledgeable crowd before submitting a ticket.
When I delete threads, the rows from both the Posts and Topics tables are, in fact, deleted; however, the space used up by both tables remains the same. I've checked this through Management Studio, as well as the forum's own table listing page.
So, even tho' I've been deleting old threads, I'm still filling up the database at an alarming rate. If I delete an attachment stored in the database, the space does, in fact, free up. Ergo, this problem only applies to posts and messages.
Hope someone understands what's going on, because I certainly don't!
