| hello, we have some problems with the search function with the InstantForum.NET v4.1.4. For example there are two topics in a forum with the keyword "forum" in the title. When I try to search for the keyword "forum" in this forum only one of the two topics appears. In other forums none of the existing topics appears. I have no idea what is going wrong here. I also tried to use the full-text search within our fourm but it is still the same problem. So I tried to ran a query against the database with the "contains"-statement to check if the full-text search works. A simple query returns the topics I was looking for but it doesn't work in the forum. As I don't have the developer license I don't know the real search queries. Perhaps somebody could post them here so I could check it with the real search query instead of the simple query (for standard search and Contains search). Only when I reply to the topic that was not found with the search function in the forum then (with the next search) it appears in the search result. Any idea what this could be?

Hi acramer,
I've been looking at this issue this afternoon, and will be setting up a dedicated testbed for the issue tommorow to try and establish what might be causing this and provide a fix as soon as possible.

| So do you have new informations for me about that issue? Could you confirm this problem in your test environment?

Hi Acramer,
i've just polished off a second test series in my testbed and im afraid I cannot under any of the scenarios i've attempted, and I think I was pretty thorough. I setup several specific sets of data, and performed a full set of searches on that data, in forums, subforums, topics, and so fourth. But got exactly the set of search results i expected.
Can you replicate this on a clean install with test Data? If so, how do you go about it?
 Kindest Regards,

| Hi, I activated the seach function in our forum only for the administrator to test some things. There is a forum with 2 Topics with the same keyword in the title. If I search for the keyword there is no search result. When I post a reply to one of the topics and try to search for the keyword again then I find one of the topics (the one with my post). When I post a new topic and try to search for the keyword I find it (a few seconds after posting). But when another user post a reply to one of the two topics I don't get a search result. It looks like the search function only returns my own topics or topics with my posts. But in another forum I find some topics with the keyword in it... It is very mysterious and I have no idea how the search function works and what the problem is. Do you have any idea or an information that could help to find/solve the problem? Could you post the search-query for a standard search and for contains-search to check what the sql query-analyzer returns? If you could not post it here in the forum you could post it in my opened ticket (TicketID:54552). Maybe this will help to find the problem. Are there any flags or some values in a db-entry to make the topic searchable (I don't find a difference between the topics I find and I don't find with the search). I hope that these informations helps to find the problem... Best regards Andreas Cramer

| BTW: Have you tested the search problem with our database (I sent it via eMail to Ryan) or with a new one? Best Regards Andreas Cramer

| Hello, I think I found the difference between the topics I find with the search and the topics I don't find. It looks like that I only find topics with a post (or creation) of a moderator or admin. All other posts don't appear in the search result. So I think it has something to do with the moderation of the forums. But I don't know what to change to get the topics from all members. Could you help me with that? Best regards Andreas Cramer
