I need to heavily customize this to fit our needs in our intranet scenario. Preferably if you have in asp.net 2.0, that would be great. Please let me know if newer version is coming out soon with asp.net 2.0 support and c# as an optional back-end language. It will be worth waiting then working on the current one.

I too am a C# developer and have it integrated with my C# site. VB.net pages run side-by-side with C# ones, so there's no logistical problem why you can't combine two languages in one application.
VB.net's pretty easy to get up to speed on as well, though obviously it's a fair bit more cumbersome than C#.
