Hi Mitch,

I've just replied to your post within our general discussion forum @...

http://www.instantasp.co.uk/support/shwmessage.aspx?forumid=23&messageid=257

I now know your referring to InstantForum.NET. As i mention in the post above, if you plan to use the forums as a stand-alone application within your web-space you should not run into any problems. However if you choose to fully integrate the forums into your site you may have to make modifications to InstantForum.NET.

I would sure appreciate more information regarding your implementation before i commit to any solid answer

If you wish i would be more than happy to offer a refund if things don't work out

Hi Ryan,

Regarding using InstantForum and InstantKB in a C# site...

I'm writing a new site in C# and am interested in incorporating one or both of the forum and KB products.  I'm reasonably familiar with VB.NET and am wondering, given the similarities in the languages in the CLR, how difficult do you suppose it would be to port all of the code from VB to C#?

Thanks for any help,

Jay.

Hi Jay,

Thanks for your post. Porting all the code from VB.NET to C# would be quite a large project. Especially if your considering porting the .NET assemblies. To include the applications within your C# site you don't actually need to convert all the code.

InstantKB.NET has been encapsulated within user controls to allow you to simply insert the various KB elements in any VB.NET or C# page. InstantForum.NET is not currently encapsulated within user controls but I plan to update this within the next couple of days to allow for easy integration into C# designs.

Hope that helps, if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to let me know

My website is in C# (like all things I code), and I use Ryan's forums and KB in them. This is one of the great feature of .NET

Ryan,

Thanks for that.  Great if everythings going to be implemented in User Controls.  That'll make life a whole lot easier.

Jay.

Hi John,

Just released 1.6 which is now 100% user controls - This will make integration into C# site and Vb.NET sites much easier. You should receive this shortly if you have purchased a previous version
