In the PM settings under Forum settings you can specify how oftern users are prompted about unread pm's. However there is no setting to turn off the prompts. Does anyone think there should be an option to disable the prompts? It might not be something most admins would do, but it can't hurt to have the option.

| From our experience I would suggest that being able to turn this off completely would be A Good Thing. While we have users who would find it useful, we have many others who would find it very confusing.

| Hi All, Many thanks for your comments. Each registered user has the ability to turn the private message prompt off within thier control panel Whilst there is no admin feature currently to enable / disable the prompt could i suggest for the moment (until v4.0 is released at-least), private message prompts are disabled by default for each user and users can enable these within thier control panel once they are registered if they wish. Would this be an acceptible workaround for the moment? This could also be turned off if required by updating the default value for the EnablePMPopUp to 0 or false within the InstantForum_Users table but it would not hurt to add this to the admin. At this stage i'm trying to finalize the database installation and v3.4 upgrade scripts so it maybe something for an early v4.x release

That works fine for me. I was thinking of it purely from an optimization standpoint for boards that might not be on the greatest of servers.
