When adding an animated gif as a smilie it just shows it as a static gif?

I'll ad one in this post just to see if the same is true for images in posts as well.  nope it seems to work when including it in a post.  Just a problem as a smilie then.  What can I do to fix this

many thanks

van

Here is a thought (but could definitely be wrong)..

When an animated avatar is uploaded.. the forum resizes the image to fit the size requirements... When this happens the animation is stripped (although, this could be fixed now???)...

Right now, I'm unsure of the procedure used to add smilies.. but if the forum resizes them the animation is probably going to be lost...

just a thought...

Hi Van,

Many thanks for your post. Animated EmotIcons should work. Can you confirm how your attempting to upload the EmotIcon?

Are you attempting to upload this via the Add New EmotIcon admin page? They are not resized using this page.

Yes I was adding them using the admin section.  But taking Bare comment into account I copied the original gif files directly into the appropriate folder and now they work fine.

but certainly something goes wrong when using the admin function

thanks

Thanks Van, They are not resized using the admin area however we'll check this out.

It's been added to the list for investigation within v4.1.3.
