On my main forum page, I have some animated Gif's for each forum inside which will blink when there are new posts inside that particular forum. Such as here: http://vistaforums.com/FORUM/Default.aspx The blue balls that light up and blink are suppose to only be blinking if there was a post made like a day ago (or so I would like) but they tend to blink almost all the time like even if there is a post in it which is 3 months old.

It also seems like inside of the forums the threads are all bold always, is there a way to make the older ones not bold?

First off.. new is a relative term. New to me means that I havent seen it so it might have been up there a while and yet its new material.

I couldnt figure out what you meant by the bold... seems ok to me so either you figured it out or you should screen shot and show us what you're seeing.

When a new user goes to your forum.. all the forums will be blinking and all the posts will be bold.  If they go into a few forums and then return to the main page, the forum should stop blinking (unless someone just posted in that forum)... and all the topics will remain bold unless they are read.

A new user.. or really at anytime... The "Mark All Forums As Read" option can be used to start from scratch... all blinking and bolds will disappear until there are new posts...

I'm assuming you already know this... and the issue is a bit deeper.

The users topicsread info is housed within your database... and is only maintained for a certain length of time.  This can be adjusted within the AdminCP... although, I cannot recall right now where in the AdminCP.

I've probably misread / misunderstood your post... If so, I apologize & could you explain again?  Sorry, it's late and I'm tired

You pretty much got it. I was under the impression that they would only blink like if a user had posted in that forum in the last hour or so. That sort of thing, but if thats not how it works then i understand. So you say there is an area in the admin panel to adjust the time a user has looked at a forum? thanks for the help
