After install you can remove the hotfix from the add/remove programs dialog its indicated as Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (KB818803).

Hope this helps please let me know how things go

RE: doPostBack HotFix

Hey all

Does anyone know if this hotfix REQUIRES a reboot? Does it put an "Uninstall Q818803" in the add/remove apps control panel?

I plan to do this hotfix to our 2003 server tonight, I'll let you know if there are any side-effects or if it doesnt work.

RE: doPostBack HotFix

Hi Giles,

No problem i'm more concerned why this is not working on your Windows 2000 servers.

If possible could you provide a screen grab of any error your receiving during installation. Do you receive an error message or does the installation complete but simply does not work ?

You may wish to check the user account your logged in as is also a member of the administrators group on the servers your trying to install this onto. I know this is quite obvious but can sometimes be overlooked.

Also could you confirm your installing this on a English labguage version of Windows 2000 - the post above indicates a problem on german versions and i'm wondering if this could apply to other languages

I have 3 English Win 2000 servers here and the hotfix works great on all three. My setup is the same for all boxes ASP.NET v1.1.4322 Windows 2000 Server 5.00.2195 Service Pack 4.

Regarding the installation on ASP.NET v1.0 this will not work. InstantForum.NET must run in a ASP.NET v1.1 application space.

I look forward to your response, sorry i could not offer a solid solution here but if you could provide a little further information regarding the specifics of the hotfix installation error that should help me further. Sorry for the trouble.

RE: doPostBack HotFix

DOH! You're quite right I missed the 'msi' in the link!

However the file does not install on either of my windows 2000 servers.

I have got windows installer on them and your msi files work fine.

I've also tried going back to v1.0 with aspreg_iis or whatever its called however I then get this error message:

<!--
[ConfigurationException]: Error loading XML file c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v1.0.3705\Config\machine.config Request for the permission of type System.Security.Permissions.StrongNameIdentityPermission, mscorlib, Version=1.0.3300.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089 failed. The Q818803msi.zip file contains a single exe file (Q818803msi.exe) this is intended for Windows 2000. The other zip file Q818803.zip contains two files (hotfix.txt and WindowsServer2003-kb817704-i386-ENU.exe), this is intended for Windows 2003.

You say the Q818803msi.exe does not work on your server. Could you confirm you have Windows Installer on your server. This is required to run the installer. You can download this from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=4B6140F9-2D36-4977-8FA1-6F8A0F5DCA8F

Please let me know if this works.
