SOLUTION: I had a span tag in the footer of my MasterPage template that had a style attribute without a closing double quote. That was enough to cause those buttons to not work. It's working fine now.

Mattb you might want to post your issue in the appropriate version 4.0 forum. You mention the liquid violet theme which is a part of 4.0 but you are asking the question in a version 3 forum. Also if you provide any extra details since the post your piggybacking on was about version 3 and obviously a lot of things have changed. A couple of the other moderators are very good with skins and could probably figure it out.

Hey Matt,

Our case was kind of weird. I don't know if I mentioned this or not, but prior to the buttons not working we had attempted to install some extra tools onto the server. Midway through the process we had to cancel the install. For some reason, it corrupted the file structure on our server and the system ended up crashing. I made some repairs to the server and got it up and running. I *thought* that I had gotten it working right again, but I found out later that .NET wasn't. I don't know what was going on and I've never found out, but much later I gave up the fight in fixing this, reformatted and reinstalled everything and since it has worked great. So, I don't know what to tell you. Good luck! Write back if you find a solution. Thanks!

I'm having this issue. 'Add Topic', 'Add Poll', 'Add Reply' etc. etc. etc. are all not working. They initiate a postback but nothing happens. I've tried all suggestions from this thread and still a no-go.

Any other solutions?

Thanks Carlos,

I added the line to both applications and commented the line <pages validateRequest="false" />. Yet nothing seemed to change. Still the same problem persists. I've reinstalled the database and the application on both the main server and the backup server, yet they both still won't function properly. I've looked through every article that I can find that seems to deal with this issue, done what's suggested, and still nothing changes.

I'm starting to think that perhaps something that I installed on the servers is conflicting with .NET or these applications. Around the time the applications stopped working, I installed the following on both servers:

Oracle 9i

Infragistics NetAdvantage 2005 (Some tools for Visual Studio .NET 2003)

ArcGIS Server (A product by ESRI)

ArcDesktop (Another product by ESRI)

I don't know what the relationship between these products and InstantForum or InstantKB's performance could be. Any ideas?

Dear Kylir,

I believe that your problem was that the sessionstate that didn’t save the skin path as I’ve already seen your web.config and you’ve configured the path of the skins correctly. I would like to suggest you to try adding the key below to your web.config:

I'm having the exact same problem as you had. However, I have both the Forum and KB. All of the submit buttons, with the exception of the skin changer button, have stopped working on both of the applications at the same time. I even have a backup server running the programs off the same database.

I was wondering what you did to solve this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

I just installed your product and immediately noticed that the login button doesn't work. I saw the other post regarding with the same problem in this forums and tried both of the offered solutions and neither worked.

1. - Add AutoEventWireUp="True" to logon.ascx , it wasn't set to false prior because it wasn't present so I added it.

2. - Regenerated the client side script files via 'aspnet_regiis -ea', 'aspnet_regiis -c' . I wasn't able to do this on the machine itself since it's my hosts machine and I don't have direct access where I can run these commands on the machine so I ran them on my machine and copied the files over.

It should be noted that I installed the forums in a subdir of an existing frontpage web site so it's not in he direct root. Initially there were some problems so I adjusted the config file and copied the contents of bin to the root's bin folder in order to get it to do anything at all.

I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it but perhaps.

One other thing, the button to change the skin works fine just he logon buton doesnt do anything
