Site is www.myxbox.co.uk

Don't have any problems at another place I use the forums though : www.bba-reman.com/forums

Cheers

Nick

RE: RC2 - Can't stay logged in
Bare (5/27/2005)
I tried "/forum/" and I tried "forum/" and in both cases I couldn't even log into the forum.... It only works for me with "/"
Great to hear this seems to have been resolved. I did perform testing here to try and replicate this problem but was not able to reproduce locally. I did manage to replicate this at your web site. I'll keep a close eye on this. We've reviewed the code and can't see anything that would obviously cause this.

I would suggest you use "/" within the <authentication/> path attribute, this will ensure the cookie is domain-wide.

I'll keep this topic updated with any progress or similar problems.

RE: RC2 - Can't stay logged in

FYI : In my continuing development, I have integrated my site and IF v4.0. In doing so, my project now references some IF dll files and the web.config files have been altered.

After making these changes, my login problem has disappeared??? After ftping these changes to my web server, the problem has disappeared there as well..

Very strange.. anyway... It's working now!!

RE: RC2 - Can't stay logged in

I tried "/forum/" and I tried "forum/" and in both cases I couldn't even log into the forum....

It only works for me with "/"

RE: RC2 - Can't stay logged in

Hmmmm... I wonder if this is also giving me my Integration problems:

http://support.instantasp.co.uk/Topic6774-37-1.aspx

If I change IF's to "/forum/"... and my website has "/"... that probably will not work... but then again.. it isn't working the way it is now anyway..

I'll keep you all posted...

I have a large night of development planned...

P.S. The default setting is "/" and would only work if the Forum was installed in the root of the site. Cristiano's didn't work originally because the existing / is a leading one.
Bare since your's are at domain.com/forum then I bet "/forum/" would work for you.
I think Ryan needs to update the web.config file with a notation that this needs to be changed and most people will never catch it.

RE: RC2 - Can't stay logged in

I'll take a look at this, although I've never modified the forms authentication code within IF's web.config.

Thanks for the input..

RE: RC2 - Can't stay logged in

I had this problem with RC2 - the way I solved it was by adjusting the forms authentication - originally in the web.config I had the path set to "forums/". I've tried this on 2 different pc's at home & on some systems at work... It's all the same..

Login and check the 'remember me' checkbox... and awhile later.. you are logged off & the forum will not remember you...

The next time I get logged off... I'm then going to look at the cookie, to see if it still exists or for some reason expired...

I'll update in this thread...

RE: RC2 - Can't stay logged in

As a general behavior, it is not the correct behavior.
