Just a heads up... My site is having this issue too.

It happens maybe 1 out of 40 post or something benign like that. I edited the post and used the HTML tab and this is what I see. blah

Also, it only seems to happen after you <enter> down a line.

Exact steps I took:

Typed 1 line of text
pressed enter
Typed a second line of text
Did a spellcheck
Posted

I think that is the default behaviour of MSHTML, and FreeTextBox has the same issue. On the other hand RichTextBox.Net does not espose this behaivour, so it might be possible to code around it.

Ryan,

Two things that are interesting but may or may not have to do with this issue.\

1) If you hit return a couple of times, because HTML is turned on (I'm assuming), several tags get inserted. But if you hit backspace all the way to the beginning of the file, it doesn't actually delete the first tag (this is with hitting enter with no text typed). Could it be possible that if some text gets inserted inside of the tags that somehow the default background color is getting applied?

2) With both the Font Color and Highlight Font color drop down boxes, if you simple click on the icon and then move your mouse over the colors, even if you NEVER click on a color, the last color the mouse was over is selected. For instance just click on the Font Color icon, move the mouse around and then move the mouse off the box and click somewhere else to make it go away. If you click on the Font Color icon again, the last color your mouse pointer was over is selected.

Hi Allen,

It's no problem, you've already been very helpful :)

We reworked the WYSIWYG (moved away from IFrame over to a DivLayer) over the weekend in light of other issues.

I'll continue to keep our window colors cyan to see if we can replicate this here. Please do the same and let me know if you experience this again.

The updated WYSIWYG will be available within RC3 due tomorrow.

Ryan, I wish I could tell you something that will help but I can't. It's an intermittent issue and I do nothing but click on "add reply" and start typing. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's background hilighted. I do nothing out of the ordinary that I am aware of.

Many thanks, Sorry i should have made this clear we have indeed been using the windows background color as shown below as you describe. We've still not been able to replicate this problem.

Allan can you provide any additional information that may help track this down. Do you perform any specific actions within a post when this occurs? Have you spotted any patterns?

I'm keen to ensure this is resolved before the next release candidate. It's proving tricky to replicate and as such track down and resolve.

Mark please send your users email address on a private message when you have a moment. I'd certainly like to try and determine any similarities between Allan's and your users system.

BTW. I can make my user available if you need to play 20 questions about his setup and usage if you cant manage to replicate this issue.

Please note it is the WINDOWS setting on my systems that is set to cyan, not the desktop background (Desktop Properties - Appearance Tab - Advanced Button - "Windows" setting).

Not quite Mark, i've been running Cyan backgrounds on 3 separate systems over the last several days working with the forum and i've not managed to replicate this yet.

I'm hoping it will be identified and resolved before final release. Hopefully it will be fixed within the next release candidate.

I'm still intending to get you upto date Mark, just trying to resolve as many bugs as possible so we don't have to-do this several times. Hope your well :)

I have a user khyros on my site and he's having that issue where his post has a background color. its kind of a cyan color and HE doesnt do it and its not EVERY time but it IS annoying since the new skin has light text and this makes the post difficult to read.

I was wonder if this had gotten resolved because I seem to recall someone else mentioning it.
