number of views not updating in user forums

The non-user forum has 1 topic and it has been viewed 11 times. the other user forums, (and there are several of them) are not updating the number of views. they all appear as zero views, and i know this is not accurate.

Perhaps its already solved but..

When a user hits the addQuoteReply button, when in the meanwhile another reply has added to the thread, he seems to reply with the wrong quote (ie. a quote of a message above the desired message).

I tried to fix it, but after spending hours of digging through the code, I couldnt find how it was really done.

I've recently noticed that all uploaded images are showing as broken links as avatars and in signatures. .jpeg is an allowed type in "Manage attachement types"

Other uploads seem fine .pdfs and the like

Server Too Busy

Hi,

We are getting a Server Too Busy message during peak times on our forum. After looking in the logs it looks like the error is being caused by a deadlock. Our sites is http://forum.tonyferguson.com/

Do you know what could be causing the deadlock? What load should we expect to be able to handle on a single low-end server?

The server is running Windows Server 2003. Our main site runs on the same server in a seperate application pool and it continues to operate while the forum is down.

Quoting issue

Okay first let me tell you all that the forums I deal with are using v4.1.3, but I do not have the power to upgrade them to the latest version. My issue arises in quoting. Something on our forum (http://forum.hiphopsite.com/) when you try to quote another user, the result does not come up as desired. The white quote boxes do not appear, and instead the actual code appears in your post. Even if you do nothing to alter the tags when you psot it still happens quite often. Please help me!

I have admin access to the forums, but not the information needed to upgrade to the newest version as I am only a volunteer helping out the HipHopSite.com owners.

Uploading .wmv file

Users Cannot Access Forum after Changing Email Address

We've been using the forum for about a year now without any problems but recently a few members have complained that they get a blank, white page when they visit any forum page. They can access the account from other computers but not their own. They all use IE 6, claim to have dumped their cookies, and did not experience any problems prior to updating their member e-mail address.

Just yesterday, Google Alerts notified me that it had picked up a post that one of my members had placed on our InstantForum installation (see below). The problem is that this is a password-protected forum that Google shouldn't even be able to access without a user logon.

First time it's ever happened. Has anyone run into similar issues?

Member Searching not working

Hi there

We are currently having some issues with our InstantASP installation. The member list, and the member search in both the main forum and the admin area is not functioning (No results, no error message).

It should be noted that we are using MSSQL 7.0. We used a manual installation, and the initial SQL script provided (InstantForum414.sql) did NOT execute correctly; we had to edit the script in order to make it run correctly on our server. All structures appear intact however.

Collapse All in Admin CP breaks manual expanding of headers

Small issue, but a bug nonetheless:

Upon clicking the 'Collapse All' link at the top of the Admin CP item list (left side of page), attempts to expand any of the section headers results in a thin blue area beneath the header, but no links or content. The 'Expand All' link will work, but individually expanding a section header won't until you refresh the the frameset.

This occurs in latest Mozilla and IE.

Continuous "Session Expired!" messages

We just installed the update a couple of days ago and we're running into a ton of problems related to sessions. Even after logging out completely, when I log back in, I will receive the "Session Expired!" message when trying to reply to a post or even see use the Recent Posts | Posts added today view.

I provide end-user support via these forums all day long. It seems the only way to get around this is to logout and close the browser completely and start over. Needless to say, this is getting pretty darn irritating.

We're running the forums in a clustered environment. I don't have anything to do with the backend, so I can't be more specific than that, but I'm wondering if there's any known issues in this type of configuration?

Firefox and image upload

I was just updating my message to new users about how to upload images using the Add Image icon. In IE you can upload from your hard drive or link to an image somewhere on the web. From Firefox there was no browse your hard drive option available.

'Remember me' not saved

Hi,

I've recently installed IF 4.1.3 (http://www.autokosten.info/InstantForum413) and everyone is experiencing the following issue:

When logging in, you can check the Remember me option. If you do, and after being logged in you close the browser, restart it and return to the forum, you're still logged in (so far so good). However, after 1-12 hours (unfortunately this varies wildly per user) he/she has to login again. If you check the forum once a day, you'll have to login every day...

There already are a lot of posts about this on this forum, and I've tried them all (I think :) ):

-Adding a timeout value to the authentication part in web.config
-Installed IF in the root of the website, instead of the folder /InstantForum413/ it is in now
-Changed the path attribute of the authentication part in web.config to path="/InstantForum413/"
-Tried running IF under .NET Framework 1.1 and 2.0
-I've deleted all cookies on the computer and tried again
-I've tried it on several different computers

Also something strange, which may be related: if you login, and then press logout, you get the message that your cookie will be deleted. Press OK to confirm.. the page reloads, and you find yourself still logged in.

The current web.config authentication part :

I've ran out of ideas...

I've contacted support, and Carlos has confirmed this problem, but unfortunately he was unable to determine what the problem is at this time.

Is there anyone who has a suggestion I can try? (Feel free to try it yourself on the forum...)

Invalid Email Address Registrations

I was just attempting to add a new <InstantASP:RegExValidator> to my Registration form for my usernames so I can only allow regular english characters, and noticed that the email regular expression validator does not appear to be working correctly. I have already tested it on this forum too and it's not working correctly here either (check usersnames lancesh and lancesh2, one had an email address of asd and the other ...). Of course I didn't receive any confirmation email to properly register, but this is still a problem.

If you enter an invalid email address it will still allow the signup process to continue. This doesn't seem correct since there is a regexvalidator on the email address which doesn't appear to fire. This also poses another problem for me, meaning I can't use another regexevalidator to validate the username, as it won't fire.

Is this an already known bug?

Also, on another note, I have had a client request that standard english characters only can be used for usernames, as the software allows the signup of usernames which essentially look the same but aren't, for example you can enter "Greek Capital Letter Epsilon" which looks like an E. This could get irritating to moderate. Is there some process you already have set up to check usernames when they are registered?

Do time zones work correctly?

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is correct behaviour or not, but I'm confused about the setting up of times zones.

I'm in Sydney, but my site is hosted in Los Angeles. I've set the time zones to be GTM + 10 which is for the East coast of Australia (and apparantly Vladivostok which doesn't sound right to me).

The site shows the following at the bottom of the main page - All times are GMT +10:00, Time now is 9:05pm. The problem is that 9.05 is LA time, not Sydney. It is currently 4.05pm here.

Have I missed something. It's not very useful to show LA time for us here in Oz...

Also, is it possible to set up the date format? eg dd/mm/yyyy. Because my site is hosted in the US, todays date is showing as 12/16/2005 when we want it to show 16/12/2005.

Spelling Error In Forum Notification Email

"your" should be "you're" or "you are".

I do that one myself half the time. :D

Incorrect number of visits in Member List

Each time a user visits the forum or post a message, his/her count of visits is being incremented by about 10. I think this post is similar to [url]Topic7933-64-1.aspx[/url], however I cannot post in this topic, so I started a new one.

Could it be a problem with the browser's client sending an incorrect cookie causing the login script to count multiple times the same visit?

I am using the final 4.00 from a clean database (no upgrade from 3.4 or any RCs).

spell check not working when installed in sub folder

I've installed version 4.1.2 in sub folder wwwroot/support/forums

I put the bin folder in wwwroot and have modified the web.config file's virtual path to reflect this,

When trying to perform a spell check I get an error indicating that file was not found:

Note how it's looking in the root of the application path rather than in the forums folder.

I moved across the above folder, including Skins folder (as I found a similar problem with the skins folder) into wwwroot and now I get a script error (line 33: Object expected).

Is there something that I should be doing that I haven't done?

RSS Feed title order inconsistant

For RSS Feeds the title is made up of the heirachy of forums ie for

Top level

First Child

Last Child

"Top Level / First Child / Last Child" or at least I presume that is how it should be. If however the forum sort number for Last Child is less than the forum sort number for First Child the display will be "Top Level / Last Child / First Child".

I sort all my forums at all levls by using 10 - 20 - 30 and so on, so as to allow for insertions into the sequence. Now I suspect I will have to add 1000 to the "Last Child" level

'Login Landing Page' property not working

In the Login & Registration Settings, I have changed to Login Landing Page and Logout Landing Page properties from Default.aspx to Forum6-1.aspx. The problem is that Logout Landing Page property works fine and takes me to Forum6-1.aspx page after logging out, but the Login Landing Page property doesn't seem to be working because after logging in it takes me back to Default.aspx.

This is a serious problem for us and preventing us from going live.

Intermittent problem with validation codes

Hi,

We're getting a very intermittent issue with validation codes. Here is a snip from a customer email:

"I was registering my details on your site and kept getting an error when it came to the verification code.

I attempted to enter the code 6 times, it always came back as invalid. I tried with out caps lock, with caps lock, with the number pad, using the shift key. Nothing. I am fairly certain this is a problem with your code, i have never had a problem with verification codes before."

Any suggestions?

InstantASP:Table when border is blank - Bizzare

I have been messing around with MainNavigation.ascx
I have a copied the skin "Classic" to a new skin called "ChrisSkin"

As I was modifying the page I accidentally changed the [b]border="0"[/b] tag to [b]border=""[/b].
This was on a <InstantASP:Table> tag.

As soon as I made this change, I noticed that I was getting the "Classic" skin for my MainNavigation. I confirmed this by debugging the running app and stepping through Classic\Controls\MainNavigation.ascx even though the rest of the "ChrisSkin" was working correcly.

Wow, took me about an hour to finally figure out that when I changed it back to border="0", it works!!!

Thread Order Reversed?

Hi,

Something strange happened today in that the order of posts in each of the threads on my forum were reversed. That is, the newest post in a thread shows up first at the very top of the page followed by the next newest, etc...the first post is at the bottom. They're being shown in reverse order.

I haven't ever touched the code or changed anything. The change occured out of the blue. I thought I was seeing things and my eyes were playing tricks on me.

Has this ever happend to anyone else?

IFCCode Page not working

Does anybody have a solution for this? From the Post New Topic, if I click on IFCode, I get this. Please help, asap.

I've been getting updated dlls from support and seems like when an issue is fixed, something gets broken. Still waiting for other fixes to issues for 3 weeks now. Pretty frustrating.
