You can't subscribe to all forums at once on the system, but you can subscribe to an individual forum by clicking on the Forum Options to the right of the Forum Name.

Yes, You can subscribe both topic and forum. However you will receive an e-mail through Forum subscriptions when new topics are posted and you willl receive an e-mail throgh Topic subscriptions when a new replies are posted.[/quote]

If I subscribe only to the forum, don't I get the email when the replies are posted?

I just upgraded to version 4.1.4 from 3.3 (or something like that).

I need a way of making it so that as an administrator, get an email for all the new posts in all the forums.

In the 3.3 version, I just set myself as a Moderator for all the forums, but make the posts auto approve. This would do the trick and it was awesome. I would get e-mails for ALL posts and replys for everything.

In this version, I will only get an email if the topic needs to be approved, but I do not want the forum moderated. All posts need to go live.

I was told that I would have to subscribe to all the forums. There has to be a better way.

My suggestion is to just have an option to send an email to the forum email address (whatever is setup in the email settings of the forum), or change the way the moderators are notified. Change it from e-mailing only when a topic needs approval to always email. If you are moderating a forum, you need to know instantly when something is posted.

I am quite surprised there is no option to automatically subscribe to threads you participate in. When I join a forum this is usually the first and only thing I change in the control panel as it's generally (rightly) defaulted to off, but with InstantASP it doesn't seem to exist at all!

Can I suggest a per user setting
- Topic subscription default (dropdown with "Do not subscribe", "No email notification", "Immediate notification")

And a system wide setting which provides the default value for this for new users (to enable it by default if the operators wish)

Hello PatD,

In the upper right hand corner of the thread.. there is a 'Topic Options' link... 'Subscribe to Topic' is an option within that drop down menu...

The forums are the same way... Except the terminology is 'Forum Options' and 'Subscribe to Forum' respectively..

Just one more thing on subscribing. Is there a way to subscribe to a thread without replying. A person could just be interested in the topic or thread, but not have anything to say at the moment.

This is a great suggestion and will be included within v4.1.3.

This is available in the forum options menu when viewing a forum index. We will be looking to make it easier to subscribe to multiple forums at once with future versions.

I've noticed that when I subscribe to a thread, I stay subscribed, but with any replies I do, at the bottom it shows "Do Not Subscribe" in the drop down list. It would be nice if it defaulted to it's current setting for the user / thread.

Also, I can't find out how to subscribe to an entire forum. On my control panel it says I am not subscribed to any forums, but it would be nice if there was a more straight forward way to subscribe to the entire forum for a user.
