Especially where these forums are used in a business that also uses a CRM tool. The CRM tool has a database of contacts, typically has their e-mail address. A password field could be added to the system to essentially replace the user table in InstantASP Forum.

Wouldn't it be great to be able to turn on access to the forums from within the CRM system? This would be great. Thanks for making the suggestion.

RE: Using your own user table with forums!

I would also like to have this feature in the future release.
Robert

Using your own user table with forums!

http://aspnet.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/101905-1.aspx

This article goes over the asp.net 2.0 personalization and how you could use it to tie a forum into any other datasource... it talks about how you could then tie into an existing user database.

Very interesting reading and if implemented... could be one hell of a selling feature for the forum that pulls it off since we've all seen the posts about tying the forum into existing user tables/data.
