Hi All,

We've recently released a BETA version of InstantForum.NET v4.1.4 to gather feedback and further comments from the community before a final release. If your an existing InstantForum.NET v4.0 customer you can download the BETA now from within your My.InstantASP account on the My Licenses page.

Having significantly reworked a number of classes and stored procedures within this release a beta is the most sensible approach before a final release within the next week or two.

I've created this forum to serve as the main discussion area for the v4.1.4 BETA release. Please use this forum to post information specific only to the InstantForum.NET v4.1.4 BETA.

Please post any questions / bugs / problems you feel are related to v4.1.4 and we will do our very best to address any issues or concerns before final release.

Unfortunately won't be introducing any further new features for the v4.1.4 final release so please keep the discussion specific to current bugs / issues or general questions with the current code-base. If you have a feature suggestion we always welcome these within our Suggestions Forum.

We sincerely appreciate your continued support and look forward to any feedback.

P.S. We are currently in the process of updating our documentation to include full v4.1.3 to v4.1.4 upgrade instructions and to reflect the various API changes. Please sit tight

Kindest Regards,

Ryan Healey

Hi Ryan,

Will users also be able to do an upgrade from 4.1.2 to 4.1.4? I am one of those users that stuck it out with 4.1.2 while waiting for the coming release. Maybe some documentation can also be made for upgrading from v4.1.2 if its possible. I would want to upgrade my forum if the new version gets good reviews but i wouldnt want to lose all my data.

Thanks, I am looking forward to the new release.

Hi Viper3,

I also am going to be uprading from 4.1.2 to 4.1.4.  I've already done so on one of my local systems.

I think the update is pretty substantial in regard to the actual project files.  So, I completely replaced my forum files with the new 4.1.4 files.

As far as the database goes... that is the good news...  There is just one .sql script that you'd need to run against your current database.  It will make the necessary modifications to be able to run 4.1.4 correctly.  I have done it and all data is fine.

Hi Bare,

Thanks for your reply. Migration from v4.1.2 to v4.1.4 doesn't sound like too much work which is good. Though I am not planning to do my conversion very soon it is good to know what it might entail. Thanks again.

Hi Viper,

Yes this will be very possible. You will simply need to download v4.1.4 and replace any files listed in the v4.1.2 to v4.1.3 and v4.1.3 to v4.1.4 upgrade documentation. You will also only need to run the 4.1.3_to_4.1.4.sql database script to update some stored procedures as no database changed occurred between v4.1.2 and v4.1.3.

If you have any problems don't hesitate to raise a ticket or post here we'll try to help.

It's quite straight-forward
