Ryan and company,
The screen shots look great! I can't wait to see KB2.0 in action!
My question though is, can you shed some light on the new functionality within KB2.0? For example, there are tabs (ie. Downloads, Troubleshooter, Bugtracker, Projects...) displayed in your home screen shot that you do not explain the usage of. Are they just pre-defined "Views" of KB articles or is the functionality and/or usage new and different.
You guys have been busy and these screenshots show that. Thanks.

Hi Htimsneb, Ryan is aware of this thread, and will post back a more detailed answer at a later stage im sure, however let me see if I can answer some of your queries in the interim.
Downloads, Bugtrackers and Troubleshooters are different "ContentTypes" within InstantKB, whereas previously you could only post Articles, you can now offer up a few different types of content:
downloads as a content item by itself (with associated writeup/text explaining what it is, documentation etc...)
Bugtrackers are just that, a bug/issue entry, which can then be reviewed/updated until it is resolved (NB: through the use of the new workflows, the bug can be automatically passed on to each step/person/action in the workflow chain, expediting its resolution and completion with minimal administration overhead).
Troubleshooters, are essentially Q&A Wizards, wherein you can setup a chain of questions/problems, much like in the windows/MS office troubleshooters and for each question/issue there can be a resolution step (and/or a further line of questioning) that allows you to create automatic resolution of common questions/issues. Obviously these can grow over time to accomodate more variation and new issues/questions.
So these are preset content items, tabs however, are fully customisable, one of the nicest features in KB is the abillity to create Custom Tabs, which are tabs named however you choose, that can contain any combination of content types, and filterred in any manner to suit you. So whilst we do have some preset tabs for each content-type you are indeed free to create as many of your own as you like, which coupled with the new administration/staff permissions and security system and workflow management, adds a huge amount of flexibillity to the KB compared with the 1.3 predecessor.
This is a very general overview, and based on my reviews of the current production code, Ryan will post here when he can if he has any corrections or additions to make to what I've already imparted.
 Kindest Regards,
James Trott Developer

| Some examples in the live demo of troubleshooting etc would be useful to see how you expect it to work.

JamesA2 (11/08/2008) Some examples in the live demo of troubleshooting etc would be useful to see how you expect it to work.I completely agree James. We'll look at preparing some examples to better demonstrate this feature. We'll add these to our reset script for the InstantKB.NET demo to ensure they are always available. I'll try to keep this posted updated. Also imsneb we are working on a series of videos & written documentation to better explain & demonstrate the various features within InstantKB.NET 2.0. We'll be keeping this forum and our knowledgebase updated as these are published. If there is any functionality your unclear about don't hesitate to ask any questions here we'll certainly try to assist,
 Kindest Regards,
