Hello all,

I've finally started moving my site to all .net due to its size and the fact that Ive finally gotten to the point in my coding career that .net is the way to go.

I have a very active forum that has survived a few years on the open source ASP Snitz Forum but it doesn't cut it anymore. Its too bulky, not .net, in line db calls and TONS of overhead db hits so its out... and in my quest to find its replacement I have come here.

I was wondering (hoping) to find someone who's migrated from a Snitz forum to this InstantForum.NET and get assurances that I wont be pulling out large chunks of hair and scalp to get it done.

Anyone? I appreciate any and all input.

My site (if you're interested) is at www.paratrooper.net

I'm in the close to the same situation. I've got a popular forum already in Snitz and the rest of my site built around it in ASP. I'm looking to move to ASP.NET and am considering this forum. Mark - I see from your site that you managed to make the conversion. I'm curious as to how you did it, and how difficult it was? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Hi Mark,

I've sent you a few email's but had no response yet

You have done a great job of converting your Snitz forums to InstantForum.NET over at...

http://www.paratrooper.net/commo/Default.aspx

Would you be willing to share the script with other users ? I'll happily pay you for this as discussed if it's reliable - i'm sure many potential and current users would benefit - what version of Snitz did you convert ?

I converted a fairly standard 3.4 version with about 80,000 posts and 3,000 users... script runs in about a minute 30 so its pretty good.

Id be willing to share with another snitz user, if he/she feels the script is solid then sure, we'll tweak and I'll let you offer it. I figure this way another snitz user can help judge.

Hi Mark,

That sounds great. I've sent a private message to Spencer informing of your kind offer. I don't expect the script for free but if you can provide this to other users and then upon confirmation that it's solid i'll happily purchase this for potential users who maybe converting from Snitz

You should get a PM from Spencer shortly

Greatly appreciated Mark,

Well, I sent out one conversion script for 3.1/3.2 but dont know how it worked out for the recipient. I am working with Ryan to rebuild the .sql script for 3.4

In order to make it wide spread I just installed a local version of snitz 3.4.04 and installed it as sql version. Im taking the script for IF 3.4 sql database and making the conversion from the pristine of both versions. Given this setup, Im hoping snitz users with mods can simply tweak the conversion script as needed.

Contact me via email if you're willing to help me test it in order to get you converted.
