Just wondering if we could get an update as to how KB 2.0 is coming along?

any more details on when either the next beta, RC1 or final edition will be released?

Thank you

Regards

The Prophet

Hi Prophet,
Apologies for the delay in my response to this, I had penned a response yesterday, and then one thing led to another I forgot all about it and then it was 8pm, so thought I'd get back to you this morning, hope that's ok.

KB 2.0 RC1 is coming along very nicely, Ryan is tirelessly working some of the issues out, most of which from the BETA period are now resolved, and a few extra items of feedback are being implemented to really make the software 'Complete' as a product. There has however been a significant delay, which im pretty sure you'll have guessed/noticed, this is down to the release of the new AJAX extensions recently released by Microsoft. These extensions it seems were not completely backwards compatible to the older extensions, meaning anyone who now sets up their server with .net 2.0 and installs the new AJAX extensions (You can get the old ones, but it involves a fair bit of digging through the MSDN to find them) would have issues with most of the software as AJAX plays a strong role in KB 2.0, as such we've been working furiously to make the software compatible with both sets of extensions.

I expect you'll be hearing from us with a release date for RC1 very soon, which may well (pending reports of any major issues) be the last commercial release and hence what comes the final release. That is after all the purpose of a release candidate.

Kindest Regards,

A rough guesstimate would be "Sometime next week" sorry we have no specifics, but the RC1 release is very close now, and I expect a full commercial to follow hot on its heels.

We have been holding off on the move from v1.3.  We have played with the earlier betas but not with our production data.  Can we move up to RC1 from v1.3?  Will we be able to continue to move up to the Commercial release from RC1 in the production environment?

Again, the reason we bought was because of the promise of one integrated login between the KB and the Forum technology.  Is there any estimation on when that will be done?

I spoke with Ryan yesterday and there is an upgrade path from 1.3 to 2.0 RC1 and he was working on a beta 2.0 to 2.0 RC1 upgrade.
