I am just starting to develop a Forum site in 4.1.4.

I have VS2003 Pro and SQL Server 2000 but my client wants me to develop the site in 2005/2008 Express editions.

I have tried to convert the solution using both Visual Basic and Visual Web Dev 2005 Express editions but am running into various problems, such as "Conversion Wizard Error: Web Project Component not Installed", and "Unable to Write to Output File" in my IIS.

Also, my 'localhost' development url doesn't work with your licensing system when a port is given, as happens when you debug a project using the built-in VS2005 test server.

Is what I'm trying to do possible, or am I wasting my time?

Many thanks for your help,

Carlos.

Carlos,

I'm not sure what type of conversion you are trying to do. I have the site running under VS2005 with no problems or conversion errors. I am using the Database Architect version and running under IIS, not under the PWS as you seem to be doing.

Hello Robert,

My question was specific to the Express version of Visual Studio 2005.

Thankfully, I'm developing mine in 2003 Pro, so it's not an issue for me anymore.

It would be quite good to know, for others..

Many thanks,

Carlos.
