I realize that I may not have figured out how to do this if the functionality already exists, but is there a way to allow a user to be a member of multiple groups? I would like to set up some private forums with different user group permissions, and still allow some users to be able to have access to more than one view without having to create multiple user accounts. For instance... If I have a forum for ASP.NET that all "Developers" can access and another forum called SQL Server that all "Developers" and "Data Base Administrators" can access. I think from what I have seen so far that the users would need multiple accounts. If I'm wrong here and that is currently available, please let me know how to do it. Thanks, Absolutely fantastic product. You have all done a fantastic job!

Hi Mike, Thank you for your email. This is available at the moment however it's not how i would like it to work. I agree the ability to add users to multiple groups is a must. At the moment you can achieve what you mention below by associating the user-roles with the specific forums from the manage permissions page. For example with your ASP.NET forum you can assign just the Developer member group. And your SQL server forum associate with the DBA member group. Then any user with them a Developer group association would not be able to view or access the SQL server forum. However i realize that 1 member could be both a developer and DBA so multiple member groups are required. This will be a enhancement within 3.5

Im in this boat but waiting... here's the situation I have a hidden forum intended for a select few that must remain (for security purposes) hidden. I need to assign a few people to a group in order to see this hidden forum BUT dont want the average joe to be able to go into the member list and select the drop down and see a group thats intended to be private (meaning I dont want someone to sort by x group and see 10 people and wonder what THAT group is about). Also dont want this group to show up under thier name in other posts.

This is one of the things I came here to request. Glad to hear it's in the works for 3.5.

Hi, I am also very interested in this feature and I have a couple of questions about it . . . 1) When do you expect 3.5 to be released with this feature? 2) I just purchased 3.4 yesterday, will I be able to upgrade to 3.5 for free? Thanks
Craig

Hi Craig, With regards to the 3.5 release i'm hoping for release around the end of June start of July. We have a v1.3 of the knowledge base which has taken far longer than expected to fully test. This will be released very soon and the focus will then be on the forums once again. The v3.5 and indeed any v3.x revision will be free for any 3.x customer Hope this helps a little
