quoteHi Ryan, I'm a proud new owner of forums 1.6.  Naturally, I'm wondering if v2 be available to 1.6 users? If so...I'm getting well into integration with my site (proving simple enough, so f...

Hi Jay,

I'm planning to have v2.0 available within 2-3 weeks from today. There are many new features I've provided a brief list of the new key features below...

  • Full secure forum administration
  • Support for Moderated / Unmoderated forums
  • Create / Sort / Manage Forum groups / Forums or Messages
  • Delete posts, members, forums
  • Lock New Posts and / or Lock replies
  • Edit Posts
  • Date Filter on Messages.aspx (show last 30 days)
  • Compliant with .NET 1.1
  • Auto detection of browser for WYSIWYG editor

Hope that helps, there is much more planned. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.

Kindest Regards,

quoteThanks for your reply, Ryan.  Can we drill down a bit further? I would like to have a user control that wraps the forum so it can be embedded easily on an aspx page.  In that case, how woul...

Hi John,

The forums are already wrapped within (ascx) user controls. This as you say allows you to easily include the forums on any aspx page. The forums are not supported in design mode, they have been developed using purely the SDK. Client-side scripting is only used for the WYSIWYG editor.

The developer license is not required to integrate the application into your site. However should you wish to customise the application logic or database code then the developer license would be required.

Hope this helps, please let me know if you have any further questions
