Hello,

I am evaluating InstantForums Developer version and have a few questions.

I want to integrate the member list with an existing member list. After reading a few other posts it seems that I can update the database and also make some changes to the code.

If I make changes to to the code what will happen when a new version is released? Will I have to make the changes again? Is there any way to keep my changes more protected from version upgrades?

Also, is it possible that when my members logon to my main site they are automatically logged on to my forums? (I am guessing that I have to make code changes for this).

Thanks, Ross

I cant speak to the new version but I have made slight mods to my forum... I enclose all modded code in comments like 'PWP MOD Start and 'PWP Mod End and this way

Just how easy is it to modify the code to change the login location for the forums? Is it straightforward, or does it require a lot of development changes?

We are considering evaluation of the software and are considering the development time involved. Our other applications are written in C#.NET and we have massive intergration with Microsoft technology, from Exchange, Commerce Server, Content Management, etc., and want to keep a single sign on solution in place.

In essence we want to ensure that we can use our current authentication modules, but rely on the Instant Forum database to manage the forum content.

Does this sound realistic?

TheMan

Hi TheMan,

About the Login, yes, you can integrate it easily with your own login.  We’ve already experienced a lot of these requests.  There is a document that can help you with it.

I don't see a document at that link, just a list of other message boards. Can you send it to me?
