Apologies if this is a previously asked question (cant find in search)

Is there a comprehensive features list for 4.0 available? We have jsut purchased this product, but we will probably wait until 4.0 is fully released before installing it, but I'd like to go over the complete list of features.

Of particular interest, is the AD integration, as this is essential to our implementation. Can I have a run down on how it functions? For example, does it work with group authentication for sub-forums etc, how is it set up, technical aspects....etc

Cheers.

Hi Fletch,

Many thanks for your post. I think we may have to offer you a refund if active directory is essential to your implementation.

Unfortunately support for active directory will not be supported immediatly with the v4.x release. We did intend to support this and code is in place for active directory however we've simply not had time to test this fully. As you can imaging customers are pushing for the final v4.0 to get hold of the improvements, implementing active directory at this stage would clearly delay us a good few days if not weeks.

We do indeed intend to provide support for this in the near future unfortunately we did not manage to get this fully tested within v4.0. I'm very sorry Fletch and sincerely apologize if any previous forum post may have contained incorrect information. Of course a refund is not a problem if you can't move forward without immediate active directory authentication.

Please let me know how you could like to proceed.

Kindest Regards,

Ryan Healey

Thanks for your reply Ryan.

That is a shame - I had read through and noted that it was going to be supported, and that made the product very ideal for our needs. We will require AD - however, at this time, the two project we do need it for right at this moment will not actually require it - and as this software fulfills our needs in that respect, we shant need to refund. We do require a .net forum solution, and they are fairly thin on the ground, and there are not that many that are of the same caliber as this.

However - perhaps we could assist you in any testing requirements in a real world working situation with your AD integration for 4.x? We are working on some very large web projects and it will be necessary in due time, however we probably wont need it completely until those are implemented sometime in the second/third quarter.

This really is a shame.  Some people saw more promise in this product for its future plans to integrate with Active Directory.  Many companies just won't tolerate having yet another identity management storage system in their organization.

The other feature upgrades didn't matter to me.  What was important was the integration with Active Directory.  Can you recommend any discussion-board products that will actually integrate with Active Directory?

You can use MIIS 2003 to integrate any other source with AD. I have worked with this in small and very large organizations, and it works well seemlessly. It just costs a lot...but MS has excellent pricing for differently sized orgs.

Pleased to read (two years after my last post) that support for AD is on it's way.

Are you able to provide an idea of release date / pricing yet please?

I think you're slightly mistaken, you have read correctly that active directory support is in development, however the first release of the module will be for our KB product and not the forum, we expect to have more news about a forum active directory product in Q1 of 2009.
