Aloha,

I'll post a little topic to make a few suggestion for your future releases of InstantKB,  just a few things...

First of all a great Improvement would be the implementation of Templates into the answering wysiwyg...

For example:

You get a question and you click in a drop down menu the most suitable template to reply to the persons request. So we only need to fill in some forms to reply...

secondly,

the ability in the search part, to look in specific categories... What about a picture frame in the article?

Just some idea's

thx for the efforts,

Amaury

Hi Amaury,

Thank you for your suggestions and taking the time to post them

The suggestion regarding templating will be available within the next release. This is a great suggestion. Regarding the other suggestions i've added them to the wish list and will try to complete them for the next release.

If you have any further suggestions please don't hesitate to contact me

Is there now or will there be the capability to embed graphics into the wysiwyg editor? I would like to use this to embed screenshot BMP files.

I just purchased this product today. Will I be eligible for a free upgrade to the next releases? How many releases could I get for free? Do you have a maintenance agreement? I think your product is on the right track, but you'll need to build on it. The price is definitely right. Thanks!

Hi Joel,

Thank you for your post and kind words regarding the knowledge base

For the moment we don't have any plans to start charging for either minor or major updates. You will be eligable to free releases as and when they become available. Oh and yes you can embed bitmaps into articles using the WYSIWYG editor

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact me

Yes,I would like to see a WYSIWYG feature. I am in the process of installing InstantKB right now and I just added an article. I can only see a small text area where I can enter my article. It would be VERY helpfull if this text area would become a WYSIWYG editor with the possibility to upload images, make links, etcetera. Maybe I did something wrong. Can I activate a WYSIWYG editor in the admin setup?

Hi Edward,

A WYSIWYG editor is already built-in to the knowledge base. This will only display for IE 5.5 browsers on a PC. Please confirm your browser and i'll let you know if you should get the WYSIWYG editor. The only reason this is disabled is because some browsers do not support the features required for this.

Weird? Our version of IE is 5.50.4807.2300CO and I am not getting the WYSIWYG editor? We also have a CMS that does show an WYSIWYG editor (made with the microsoft component which you will use also I presume) in this browser version.I tested it at home on my IE6 browser and it works. Our company policy is (sadly enough) that everone has IE 5.50.4807.2300CO and your WYSIWYG editor does not work on this version. Is there an easy way to fix that? Thx, Edbtw. Great program!

Hi Edward,

This is strange this should work on your browser no problem. Could you trying something for me - could you provide the values of the following once rendered to screen...

response.write(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Request.Browser.Version)
response.write(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Request.Browser.Platform)
response.write(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Request.Browser.Browser)

The WYSIWYG will on appear for Windows OS running IE 5 or greater.
