| Hi all, I've tried to delete skins, but I get this error: A problem occurred whilst attempting to add your skin. This could be one of the following reasons...
• The ASPNET and / or NETWORKSERVICE windows account may not have permission to write or modify your skin directory. • The skin directory may already exist, skins must be named uniquely. • The skin name may contain illegal characters. This should be plain English.
The ASPNET and NETWORK SERVICE accounts have full control on the Skins-directory, but it doesn't help. I'm using Win Server 2003 and Instant Forum.NET v.4.1.3

Ensure that you have applied the permission changes to all files and folders (children) otherwise you're only modifying the top level.

| The permission changes are applied to all files and subfolders.

If this is on a development box.. you could try something to ensure that this actually is a permission issue.
Temporarily give "Everyone" full access to the skins folder & its contents... Then try it... If it works, you have a permission issue.. If it doesn't, well... at least you know it isn't a permission issue... and we can try something else..
Kind of down and dirty... but it wouldn't take long... and you'd find out if it is permissions...
Just a thought..

Thanks, Yes, the forum is on a development box so I've tried this, gave "Everyone" "Full Control" (to all subfolders and files) but the same error occurred, so it doesn't seem to be a permission issue then... |

Just curious, but you're not trying to delete the only skin in the forum are you?

| No I'm not. I added some test-skins, and I want to delete one of them now.

| Tina, I am also seeing these issues on a fresh install of 4.1.3. I'm going to move this thread to the bug report forums. I would suggest for yourself to open a support ticket. If I hear anything from the InstantASP Guys (I'm not affiliated, just a moderator) I'll let you know/post it here. I've also posted a screen shot.

| Any news on this? I also need to delete a skin and I cant. Is there a way to globally change the skin settings of all users so they can only use one particular skin? I know you can disallow folks from changing skins and I know you can set up a default skin. But what if you have some users using a skin that you dont want them to use? How would you move them all away from it?
