Problems with InstantKB within FireFox

Hi there,

I’ve installed the InstantKB 1.3 on a Windows 2003 SP1 server with .Net Framework V1.1.4322.573, it runs in IE perfectly, but when I tried it in FireFox v1.0, it has several issues:

There is a JavaScript error on the default page (as shown in the screenshot attached), and when I view the page source I found the end tag of the script is doubled like this:

ikb_saveScrollPosition() {document.forms[0].__SCROLLPOS.
value = thebody.scrollTop;}thebody.onscroll=ikb_saveScrollPosition;

When I click on the “Search” button on the Menu bar, a blank page shows up without loading any texts or input boxes or buttons like this:

Can anyone help?

InstantKB Problem

Hi Angela,

Hope your very well. Sorry to hear your having problem and also an delay for our response.

I suspect this could be related to the aspnet_client folder not being present within the application root.

If you've made the InstantKB13 folder a web application within IIS you'll need to also ensure the ASP.NET client-side JavaScript files for the version of the .NET framework your running (in this case .NET v1.1) are present at the root of the web app. You should see a aspnet_client folder in the root.

If you don't see the aspnet_client folder i've attached a copy of this folder to this post for .NET v1.1.4322. You'll need to unzip the attached file below and ensure the aspnet_client folder is present within your application root. Please let me know if this helps.

If the problem continues don't hesitate to respond and we'll investigate further,

EDIT: This topic has been closed as this issue has long been resolved.
Kindest Regards,

Hi Angela,

If the above suggestion does not help i've created an updated assembly which should resolve this problem. I've attached this this message. You'll need to replace the InstantASP.dll within the InstantKB.NET bin directory with the attached. If you have any problems don't hesitate to respond.

I hope this helps,
Kindest Regards,

Hi Ryan,

Thank you for your replies and once I replaced the InstantAsp.dll with the one you attached, the default.aspx page load in firefox with no javascript function messages.

Hi Ryan,

I have similar problem, we are moving our website to an linux based shared hosting with 4.0 support. When I do view source on default.aspx page, article.aspx page, the hidden _viewstate input is inserted inside the javescript end tag, like below:

<script language='javascript'>
function ikb_saveScrollPosition() {document.forms[0].__SCROLLPOS.value = thebody.scrollTop;}thebody.onscroll=ikb_saveScrollPosition;</script<input type="hidden" name="__VIEWSTATE" id="__VIEWSTATE" value="/=" />></form> </TBODY></TABLE>

Do you still have this for download? The version of instantKB is v1.3.
