Facebook Integration With InstantForum

InstantForum Suggestion

I have a FB question. If a group of users have registered for the Forum the typical way (clicking Register and providing email/password/etc), and then over time you decide to enable users to Log In with Facebook, will the existing user base that have email/password logins be able to log in with their Facebook account? Note: the email addresses of these users will likely be the same as the email address associated with their FB account? And if so, can they switch back and forth, choosing to access the Forum occasionally via email/password and on other occasions via Log In with Facebook?

Thx in advance.

InstantForum Suggestion

Hi David,

I hope your very well. I'm sorry for my delay responding. Thank you for your question.

We don't currently pair facebook logins if your email address or username already exists within the InstantASP_Users table. I'm afraid currently you will be prompted to choose a new username or email address if your facebook email address or username already exists within the InstantASP_Users table. We require the username and email address to be unique for each user account within our InstantASP_Users table.

Your not the only one to notice this David. We already have improvements within our road-map for the facebook login planned and you should see these improvements with the next update a little later this year.

Please don't hesitate to respond here or email directly on ryan@instantasp.co.uk if you have any further questions. Again sorry for my delay responding here.

Kindest Regards,

Ryan Healey
