Endless loading spinners InstantForum 2010

This problem seems to be the same as another poster's, but there was no solution recorded in that post. Sorry for the repeated topic.

On one of our forums (the others are fine) we're getting the loading spinners at several areas on the page (eg: Search this Forum, Latest Posts, the actual forum posts, etc...). This is happening in all browsers, but if I open the forum in IE10 and use compatibility mode it works fine. The javascript error appears to be in forum.js at line 842 character 9.

Specifically, it's the bolded line in the below function (if this helps):

InstantASPJSONProxy.prototype.getData = function() {
if (this.jsonData == null) {
this.jsonData = JSON.parse(this.json);
if (!this.jsonData) { alert("Unable to parse JSON string!"); return; }
return this.jsonData;

I'm not quite sure how to proceed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

InstantForum Problem

Sorry, the exact error for the code above is "Invalid Character".

For those who run into similar problem with InstantForums 2010 here is the update files sent to me by support that solved my issue (Thanks, Ryan):https://downloads.instantasp.co.uk/IFNET2010-5_SP1.zip

Thanks for taking the time to post and share the download link I provided. Sorry it's taken me so long to follow up here within the forums.

For others who may have this problem. This issue only effects InstantForum 2010-5. The above download link will resolve this issue with InstantForum 2010-5. This issue should not effect users running InstantForum 2012 or 2013. We also improved the client side error reporting within 2013 to now provide a more descriptrive error if the panels do not load for any reason. This will allow us to troubleshoot any issues quickly. It was difficult to troubleshoot previously if issues occurred as you just saw a endless loading spinner with no descriptive error.

If I can assist further of course please don't hesitate to send me an email or respond here,

UPDATE: This issue has since been resolved so this topic has been closed. If you encounter any similar issues please start a new topic here within our forum.

Kindest Regards,

Ryan Healey
